Dear Utah,

8 years ago, I was living my dream, working as a DCFS caseworker. On my first day of work, I met a new friend, and we bonded quickly. Fast forward to 5 years ago, in 2019, she was murdered by a boyfriend she had recently broken up with. Domestic violence happens to all kinds of people, even DCFS caseworkers. Shortly after her homicide, a new job opportunity presented itself to me, I felt like it was a sign. I have spent the last 5 years of my life dedicated to bringing awareness and empowering people experiencing domestic violence, teaching them that they are not alone and there is support in this world to help them live a happier, fulfilling life.
